Little Cathedral Pinot Noir

Little Cathedral Vineyard was established in 1996 on the foothills of the Cathedral Ranges at Taggerty, 2 hours north-east of Melbourne in the Upper Goulburn Wine Region.

Little River-2

The cool climate vineyard is planted at 280 metres above sea level on brown clay-loam on a gentle north facing slope. When irrigation is required water is drawn from the pristine Little River, a clear mountain stream that originates deep within the forest that the vineyard backs onto.

The 10 acre vineyard is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir (MV6) and since taking it over in 2006 we have embraced the challenge of understanding the unique character & growing habits of our vines in order to produce premium quality grapes.  From here we have started also producing wine under our own label.

So far we have survived drought & frost (destroying the 2007 vintage). We were luckily spared during the 2009 bushfires  with the fire surrounding us on 3 sides but the crop was lost to smoke taint.  2011 was another challenging year due to wet weather.  In amongst all the challenges the 2008 and 2010 vintages were very successful and these are the wines we’re now releasing.
